Due to the COVID-19 situation, First Unitarian Church of Wilmington are cancelling worship on 3/15 and having a remote live stream worship. Although the building is not yet closed, the church may need to shut the building down on short notice. In light of Church's decision, Open heart meditation group has decided to cancel the Wednesday weekly practice (starting 3/18) and the 3/21 Saturday retreat to prevent transmission risk for COVID19.
We are in the midst of a worldwide epidemic of coronavirus that causes symptoms similar to flu but is also potentially lethal, with a mortality rate 3.4% per WHO compared to 0.1% from Influenza.

Jon Kabat Zinn talked about 7 attitudinal factors onstitute the major pillars of mindfulness practice - Non Judging, Patience, a Beginner's mind, Trust, Non-striving, Acceptance. These attitudes are to be cultivated consciously when we practice. Jon Kabat-Zinn is Professor of Medicine Emeritus and creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Kabat-Zinn was a student of Buddhist teachers such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Zen Master Seung Sahn. His practice of yoga and studies with Buddhist teachers led him to integrate their teachings with scientific findings.
