![]() Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 9 am to 3 pm is the Open Heart Meditation Group one day retreat at the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington Brunner Chapel. The video contains 14 minutes of Dhamma Talk and a 10 minutes of meditation instruction. If time allows, we will view another Tara Brach video "Learning to Stay" (Click to view) - 23 minutes Dhamma talk and 10 minutes meditation instruction. Tara Brach is an American psychologist and proponent of Buddhist meditation. She is a guiding teacher and founder of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, D.C. Brach also teaches about Buddhist meditation at centers for meditation and yoga in the United States and Europe. Brach is an engaged Buddhist specializing in the application of Buddhist teachings to emotional healing. Ram Dass (born Richard Alpert; April 6, 1931) is an American spiritual teacher, former academic and clinical psychologist, and the author of the book Be Here Now. Gen Kelsang Nyema is an American Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher of Ganden Kadampa Buddhist Center in Columbia, SC. A long-time student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s, Gen Nyema teaches meditation and the practical application of Buddhism to our busy modern lives throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. If time allows, we will also view a 13 minutes TEDx talk "Vipassana Meditation and Body Sensation" by Eilona Ariel (Click to view). Eilona is a documentary filmmaker whose work was deeply inspired by her life in Asia and her practice of the ancient mediation technique called Vipassana.
